Consultation

Consultations follow a structured and methodical approach designed to provide clear insight into hair and scalp patterns and practical care considerations
Consultations at TrichoCentre are carried out by a trichologist practising since 2015, trained at The Institute of Trichologists (London), DBS-certified and a current registrant. Affiliations include the European Hair Research Society and British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery, with previous memberships including the World Trichology Society and International Association of Trichologists. Appointments explore relevant factors in a calm, private setting and provide clear, practical next steps where appropriate.

Many clients find that a clearer understanding of their hair and scalp helps them feel more confident about what to do next.

Ben takes a structured, methodical approach to consultations, focusing on observation, discussion and practical guidance tailored to each individual, informed by recognised best-practice principles. He was awarded a Credit and the John Firmage Certificate of Distinction (The Institute of Trichologists), and was shortlisted (2018) and a UK finalist (Aesthetic Medicine Awards 2022).

Appointments are available for adults aged 18 years and over and are not NHS-funded. Initial consultations usually last 45-60 minutes.

During Your Appointment

Your hair and scalp concerns are discussed in detail. A visual and, where appropriate, magnified scalp assessment may be carried out.

Relevant background factors such as general health history, nutrition, lifestyle, and family history may be explored where they relate to hair and scalp health. Where relevant, Ben may also explore how your hair or scalp concerns are affecting your day-to-day life. This can provide helpful context when discussing observations and practical care considerations.

Observations are explained clearly, and where appropriate, individual care options may be discussed so you can decide what feels suitable for you.

If medical investigation may be advisable, you may be encouraged to consult your GP or other regulated healthcare professional.

Examination and Preparation

Your consultation may include visual examination and digital trichoscopy using specialist equipment. Discomfort during examination is uncommon.

Where appropriate, non-invasive measurement tools may also be used to provide additional context to scalp and hair observations.

With your consent, progress photography and trichoscopy may be used at follow-up appointments to monitor changes in hair and scalp appearance over time.

Before your first appointment, you will be asked to review and sign consultation and examination consent documentation.

Please complete the Pre-Consultation Information Form before attending.

Where possible, avoid washing your hair for 24-48 hours before your appointment to support scalp observation.

Recent blood test results from the last 3-6 months may be helpful but are not required.
